Getting Here:
Parking – During opening hours in the week (Tuesday to Friday) Sun Pier House has an on site car park with a limited number of pay ‘n’ display bays, alternatively visitors can park in St Johns car park, which is less than a 5 minute walk from our building.
Train – The nearest train station is Chatham which is a 5 minute walk away. Alternatively, Rochester train station is a 20 minute walk away.
Bus – We are within a 3 minute walk from Chatham bus station, offering bus routes all over Medway and beyond.

What a brilliant three weekends it`s been in the studio, showcasing our MESS ROOM Creatives River Medway Journeys project, while sharing the space with the wonderful @hannahgracewhittaker, Crafty Capers and our studio neighbour @marissa_mardon.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this year`s festival so special, and to everyone who came to visit us. It’s been a joy to catch up with familiar faces, meet new ones and celebrate Medway’s amazing creative community together.
Missed our MESS ROOM Tides exhibition, created by the @kabartgroups? There`s still time! You can visit it in the Rochester Cathedral Crypt until the end of the summer.

We’ve had a fantastic morning at Rochester Cathedral for the launch of Tides, a MESS ROOM CIC project.
In the lead up to the summer our Kent Association for the Blind Art Groups have been working hard to create work on the theme of tides. From illustration to mixed media textiles. This exhibition is a celebration of the community the MESS ROOM has built and continues to establish.
With special thanks to Mayor Douglas Hamandishe, Canon Gordon and Eithne Rynne from the Kent Association for the Blind.
Tides is on until the end of August 2026 and is part of this year’s Medway Open Studios.

It`s Creativity & Wellbeing Week 2026!
Creativity and Wellbeing Week is run by London Arts in Health and Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance. The festival started as a small event based in London in 2012, to coincide with the Olympics. In 2019, the week went national for the first time, allowing thousands more people across the UK to participate in culture and creative activities.
At MESS ROOM CIC, we live, breathe, and eat the importance of creative play for the benefit of mental health and physical wellbeing. For many, the work of MESS ROOM CIC is a lifeline for those living with blindness and visual impairments.
For this year`s festival, we have entered our Peer Arts and Medway Kent Association for the Blind Art Group. You can find more about these groups via the Creativity & Wellbeing Week website, or by our own MESS ROOM website.
