We are delighted to welcome you TO MESS ROOM CREATIVE PART 2 EXHIBITION

We are excited to present MESS ROOM Creatives Part Two Exhibition, an inspiring exhibition of artworks created by local Medway residents, celebrating the rich and diverse cultural history of Medway. This exhibition will be open to the public from 1st February to 29th March 2025 at the Guildhall Museum.

MESS ROOM Creatives Part Two Exhibition is the culmination of a creative collaboration led by renowned artist Catriona Faulkner, with support from artists Matilda Flood and Tina Ryan. The project, in partnership with The Guildhall Museum, has given participants the unique opportunity to engage deeply with Medway’s cultural heritage. Together, they have created a stunning collection of artworks that draw inspiration from the museum’s vast and varied exhibits.

Over the course of three months, participants immersed themselves in the museum’s collections, working closely with the museum’s Education Team to gain insights and inspiration. They were granted rare access to objects from the museum’s archives, many of which are not typically displayed to the public, providing them with an unprecedented opportunity to interact with pieces of Medway’s history in new and meaningful ways.

Under Catriona Faulkner’s expert guidance, each participant crafted personal shrines and memory boxes, using a combination of found objects and symbolic materials. These creations are more than just art; they are heartfelt stories and expressions of personal connection, weaving together past and present through the participants’ own narratives and reflections. Each work is a testament to the power of history and memory, and a celebration of the vibrant community spirit within Medway.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone at the Guildhall Museum for providing this invaluable opportunity to engage with Medway's cultural legacy. We are also deeply grateful to all the artists who contributed their creativity and passion to this project.

This project has been made possible with funding from Medway Council, allocated through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. We are proud to be part of an initiative that supports local creativity and helps to preserve and celebrate the history of Medway.

Come and experience the creativity, passion, and heritage on display at the Guildhall Museum from 1st February to 29th March 2025. We look forward to welcoming you!
